My uncle owns his own business, has for years. When I asked him if he knew about his company’s business credit report status, he did. Thank goodness. However, I recently attended an educational event about identity theft for local business owners and I’d say about half of them in the room indicated that they don’t regularly check their own company’s business credit report. They didn’t know that this is one of the first ways to spot potentially fraudulent activity on the business level.
Most of us know some small-business owners, whether they’re family members, friends or from our favorite local shops and restaurants. Since ProtectMyID.com is a part of Experian, I thought it’d be worthwhile to share that Experian is celebrating the independence of small business owners across the nation. Between July 1 and July 7, Experian is offering all business owners the opportunity to view their company’s business credit report for FREE.
You can help spread the word by sharing this information with family, friends and the business owners you know. To get a free report, business owners can visit: www.SmartBusinessReports.com/FreeReport. At the site, they will be asked to enter their email address and will then be sent an access code for their free report. Here’s to an educational holiday weekend.
